Early Life and Education
Georgian filmmaker Otar Pailodze was born on March 21, 1935, in Tbilisi, Georgia.
He pursued his education in directing at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, graduating in 1958 with a defense of his film "From House to House."
Film Career
Pailodze began his filmmaking career with the short film "Old Beech" in 1957.
His breakthrough came in 1960 with "From House to House," which marked his graduation from VGIK. Over the following decades, he directed a diverse filmography, including "Holidays" (1962), "Big Green Valley" (1967), "Good Luck" (1973), "The Summit" (1976), "Three Days of Hot Summer" (1984), "The Ark (Nutsina's School)" (2000), and "Variation on a Theme of Othello" (2003).
